Sarah Thomson, Director

Sarah Thomson is an arts administrator and curator. She was appointed HBRG Director in March 2024, after acting in the role from October 2023. Previously she was the Public Programs and Community Engagement Officer at HBRG and has a strong interest in socially engaged projects and broadening the accessibility of contemporary art. Prior to moving to Hervey Bay, Sarah worked at the Institute of Modern Art, Brisbane, was the coordinator of the churchie emerging art prize, and worked as a freelance public art curator on projects with Brisbane City Council. Sarah holds Bachelor Degrees in Creative Industries (Art History) and Business (Marketing) from the Queensland University of Technology.

Llewellyn

Llewellyn Millhouse, Curator

Llewellyn Millhouse is an artist and arts worker who holds a Doctorate of Philosophy from Queensland College of Art, Griffith University. Llewellyn has been involved in facilitating artist run initiatives for over 10 years, most notably as co-founder of the gallery and studio complex Outer Space in Brisbane. From 2018 – 2022 he worked as the Exhibition Manager for the Institute of Modern Art in Brisbane. In 2022 Llewellyn relocated to Hervey Bay as the curator of the relaunched Hervey Bay Regional Gallery.

Sam

Sam Raveneau, Public Programs and Community Engagement Officer (Acting)

Sam is a Kamilaroi man born and raised on Butchulla Country. Through public programming and community engagement his role is to deliver programs and projects that showcase the cultural values of our community and encourage a community voice through the arts. Sam is particularly passionate about the Gallery being a civic space that celebrates our natural environment, different cultures and youth.

Lois headshot

Lois Shoebridge, Gallery Officer

Lois Shoebridge is an artist and arts administrator, assisting the gallery team with admin, retail management, and events and programs support. In 2017 Lois graduated Queensland College of Art (Bachelor of Fine Arts – Interdisciplinary Drawing major) and relocated to the Fraser Coast in 2018. Since 2018, she has worked in Fraser Coast Regional Council's Cultural Services team at Gatakers Artspace, Story Bank, Bond Store and Customs House. Lois loves being involved in the Fraser Coast art community as well as discovering and meeting artists and makers in the region.

Nana

Nana Cai, Gallery Assistant

Nana Cai is originally from Jingzhou, China. She is an artist and an art teacher with 12 years of experience in working with diverse audiences. She holds a Bachelor of Environmental Art Design from Hubei Institute of Fine Art University, and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Queensland. She’s passionate about creating wondrous arts with children and people from different backgrounds.
