Join us for the official opening and prize announcement of the inaugural Girra: Fraser Coast National Art Prize.

Girra: Fraser Coast National Art Prize tells the story of our reciprocal relationship with the natural world. From over 275 entries 18 shortlisted artworks will be exhibited at Hervey Bay Regional Gallery, presenting a diverse range of conceptual and aesthetic approaches to the prize theme of 'people, place and the environment'.

Shortlisted artworks share unique perspectives on industrialised landscapes, the forces of extreme weather events, our relationship to domestic gardens, ecological concerns and speculative solutions, ruminations on the beauty and power of nature, and much more.

The winner of the major acquisitive prize of $25,000 will be selected by judges Dr. Fiona Foley (artist and Associate Professor at The University of Queensland), Peta Rake (Senior Curator, University of Queensland Art Museum), and Ashleigh Whatling (HBRG Director) and announced at the exhibition opening.

Be the first to see the Girra: Fraser Coast National Art Prize exhibition and celebrate with the finalists and inaugural prize winner.
